Special Message to Rider's Adjuncts Regarding their Teaching Contract
July 31, 2017
Dear Colleagues,
We are getting close to when adjunct contracts will begin to be sent out and when you receive yours it may include language that states "salaries may be adjusted as a result of negotiations." I understand that there is discussion currently ongoing on the adjunct mailing list about not returning signed contracts until compensation is specifically confirmed and some of you have already expressed a willingness to just walk away from your classes if your salaries get cut after the semester begins. I have spoken to our attorney about this situation and he has advised that you return your signed contract but that you add "Dependent upon the satisfactory outcome of negotiations between management and the AAUP concerning terms and conditions of employment" below your signature .
I also want to thank you all for your strong support.
